Your data & India's DPDP Act
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you rights over your personal data and sets rules for companies like us. Most of our learners are school students, so we take it seriously. Here is what it means for you, in plain words.
What we promise
Parents approve under-18s
When a child signs up, we email the parent or guardian. Nothing opens until they approve, and they choose what to allow.
No ads or tracking of children
No advertising. Children's activity is never linked to them, never profiled, and the Kids Lab sends no analytics at all.
Only what we need
Name, username, date of birth and learning progress. No IP addresses or device details in analytics. We never sell data.
Your data, your call
Download it, change your choices or delete your account any time, from your dashboard.
Masked names
Leaderboards are opt-in and show a nickname or first name + initial. Never a full name, email or phone.
A real person to talk to
Our Grievance Officer, Amrrish Anand (+91 70339 76796), replies within 15 working days.
Your rights
- Know what we hold — download a copy from Dashboard → Privacy & data.
- Correct it — tell us through the grievance form.
- Delete it — one button, everything erased.
- Change your mind — switch any optional feature off whenever you like. It is as easy as switching it on.
- Nominate someone who can act for you if you die or become unable to.
- Complain — to us first, and then, if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
Parents and guardians can use all of these rights for their child.
For parents
If your child gives your email when signing up, you will get an email from Techwave Academy asking you to approve the account. The link works for 7 days. You will see exactly what the account needs (lessons, progress, certificates) and what is optional (AI features, leaderboard, course emails) — every optional box starts unticked. If you do nothing, the account and everything typed into it is deleted after 7 days.
Later, if your child asks to turn on an optional feature, you get a fresh approval email. You can ask us to delete your child's data at any time through the grievance form — tick "about a learner under 18".
What if something goes wrong?
If personal data is ever exposed, we will tell the people affected and the Data Protection Board of India without delay, and report to CERT-In within 6 hours, as the law requires.
