About this course

A free course on editing video with AI, built for Indian creators. You will learn the editing basics that make a video watchable (story, pacing, sound and captions), then speed them up with AI tools that are available in India: Canva video, Adobe Express, Microsoft Clipchamp, YouTube Create, the free version of DaVinci Resolve, and Descript for transcript-based editing. Projects include a 30 second reel with Hindi and English captions, a cleaned-up podcast clip and a short ad for a local business. We also cover consent and honesty when using AI voices or avatars. Four weeks of interactive lessons end in three portfolio projects.

Course syllabus: 4 weeks, 24 lessons

Week 1: Editing foundations

• Story first: the hook, the shape, and cutting for meaning
• The grammar of the cut: jump cuts, J and L cuts, B-roll and pacing
• Phone shooting: orientation, 1080p at 30 fps, light, framing, stability and B-roll on purpose
• Sound is half the video: mic placement, a cheap lapel mic, room echo and recording in a noisy Indian home
• The free tool map: Clipchamp, Canva, Adobe Express, YouTube Create, DaVinci Resolve and Descript
• First edit: a 30-second rough cut in Clipchamp or Canva, from import to a 1080x1920 export

Week 2: AI captions and sound

• Auto captions in Clipchamp, Canva and YouTube Studio (and fixing the Hindi)
• Caption style: readable on a budget phone, safe from the app UI
• AI voice cleanup: Adobe Podcast, Descript Studio Sound and Resolve, without the robot voice
• Mixing: levels, ducking music under speech, and the -14 LUFS target
• Free and safe music: YouTube Audio Library, Instagram's catalogue, and copyright claims explained
• Project: caption and clean your 30-second reel, Hindi and English versions

Week 3: Smart editing with AI

• Descript: edit video like a Word document
• Silence removal and smart cuts elsewhere, and the human pass for rhythm
• DaVinci Resolve: Cut page, Edit page, and the 5 shortcuts that save hours
• Basic colour in Resolve: white balance, exposure, skin tones, matching two clips
• Turning a 16:9 podcast into 9:16 clips
• B-roll sources: your phone, free stock, AI clips, and when to disclose

Week 4: Projects, platforms and honesty

• From a 20-minute recording to three 45-second clips
• Exporting for each platform (resolution, frame rate, bitrate, file size)
• A 20 to 30 second ad for a sweet shop or salon
• AI voiceovers and avatars: when they help, consent and disclosure
• Thumbnails, titles, first frames, and a simple analytics habit
• Capstone: your portfolio, a client revision workflow, and pricing in rupees

Certificate

The course is free. When you finish every lesson you can get a verified certificate for Rs 299 (GST included). It carries a QR code anyone can scan to verify it, so you can add it to your resume and LinkedIn.
